Eric Fischl in LA: New Show, Book Signing, and Talk with Steve Martin

Sweet, sensitive and often a bit sad, the work of Eric Fischl intimately portrays not only the human figure, but also the emotional complexity of life. Currently, the artist has a solo exhibition at KM Fine Arts in Los Angeles. This selection of work is multidisciplinary, ranging from watercolor beach tableaus (hand-painted collages with pigment inks and poured resin) to sculptures using bronze, cast glass, acrylic and steel. The oldest piece in the show dates back to 2004.

Bang: Bernie Taupin on Text and His Odd Photography Collection

Bernie Taupin has long been known for his wildly successful career as a lyricist. But for over a decade he’s been making paintings and sculptures at his home in California. We caught up with the U.K.-born artist in May when he was in town for the Downtown Art Fair. He was showing a few paintings at KM Fine Arts’ booth, including an eye-catching work entitled “Bang.” At the end of the month, a solo show of his work will open at the gallery’s Chicago location.

Musical Art Flights? Shepard Fairey Brings Art + Lollapalooza Together Again

Street artist extraordinaire Shepard Fairey is curating a special arts exhibit at Block 37 during Lollapalooza.  Going by the name Art Alliance: The Provocateurs, the event features 40 artists and runs from July 31 to August 4.  More than a simple art exhibit, the multi-dimensional show will include music, public art and panel discussion that blend nicely with the music festival's eclectic show lineup.
